The request came as Iran escalated its use of Shahed drones against countries in the region, drawing urgent attention from Washington and Gulf capitals alike. Ukraine, having faced over four years of similar attacks from Russia, is uniquely positioned to help.
The scale of Ukraine’s experience with Shahed drones is extraordinary. Russia has launched them by the tens of thousands, including a single night barrage of more than 800 drones. This relentless pressure drove Ukrainian engineers to develop interceptor systems that are both affordable and effective, setting a new standard for cost-efficient air defense.
These innovations, some priced at as little as $1,000 per interceptor, are now drawing global buyers. Ukraine’s defense manufacturing sector has grown rapidly under wartime conditions and is now producing equipment in excess of its own battlefield requirements.
