Marking 55 years of diplomatic relations, Türkiye and China are strengthening their bilateral ties, embracing cooperation across various sectors such as trade, connectivity, technology, energy, and regional affairs. Türkiye’s Ambassador to China, Selçuk Ünal, emphasized that these connections are rooted in a rich history of interaction, tracing back to the ancient Silk Road. This historic route facilitated trade, cultural exchanges, and diplomatic interactions between the two civilizations.
Since the formal establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971, the partnership between the two nations has grown considerably. China has emerged as Türkiye’s largest trading partner, with trade volumes between the two countries now exceeding $50 billion annually. This economic relationship is further supported by the increasing frequency of passenger and cargo flights that connect major cities, enhancing the connectivity between the two nations.
Türkiye has also increased its diplomatic footprint within China by establishing multiple consulates and fostering economic engagement. Ambassador Ünal highlighted ongoing collaborative efforts in key areas such as artificial intelligence, green energy, infrastructure, and commerce. Both Ankara and Beijing find common ground on numerous international and regional issues, sharing a commitment to peace, stability, development, and conflict prevention.
The strategic vision endorsed by the leaders of both countries aims to propel their partnership forward, focusing on sustained economic growth and regional cooperation.
