Recent estimates suggest that Türkiye’s central bank reserves have surged by nearly $40 billion since late June, marking their highest point in roughly five months. As of the week ending August 21, the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT) saw its total reserves rise by an estimated $5.3 billion, bringing the total to approximately $188.8 billion. This figure represents an increase from the previous week’s total of $183.5 billion.
Back in late June, specifically on the 26th, Türkiye’s reserves had dropped to around $149.2 billion. However, since then, they have embarked on a robust recovery. By the conclusion of July, the reserves had already climbed to $164.4 billion and continued their upward trajectory into August.
The latest estimated rise in reserves places them about $39.6 billion above their low in June and at their highest level since March 13. This significant recovery highlights the efforts and measures taken to bolster the financial standing of the nation’s central bank.
Official data confirming these figures for the week ending August 21 is expected to be made public on Thursday. The anticipated release of these numbers will provide a clearer picture of the current state of Türkiye’s financial reserves and economic health.
