In a remarkable achievement, Türkiye’s defense and aerospace exports have surpassed the $11 billion mark over a rolling 12-month period, signaling significant progress for the nation’s defense sector. Recent data reveal that exports in June alone reached $802.8 million, representing a substantial 29.6% increase compared to the same month the previous year. For the first half of the year, exports have risen by 29.5% year-on-year, totaling $4.67 billion.
Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), highlighted that this growth points to a rising global interest in Turkish defense products. He emphasized that the expansion of Türkiye’s defense manufacturing capabilities has been instrumental in meeting this demand. Görgün also noted the effectiveness of Turkish defense systems in real-world operations, which has been crucial in forming sustained international partnerships.
Over the past 20 years, Türkiye has made significant strides in enhancing its domestic defense industry. This development has not only reduced the country’s dependency on foreign military equipment but also elevated its status as a formidable global exporter. Currently, Türkiye exports over 230 different defense products to 185 countries, highlighting its growing influence in the international defense market.
The country’s ambitions in the defense sector include solidifying its place among the world’s top 10 defense exporters. This strategic goal underscores Türkiye’s commitment to advancing its defense industry and expanding its global footprint. The continued success in exports is a testament to both the quality and competitiveness of Turkish-made defense products on the world stage.
